Essential components to create and nurture a LC

Ah... the LC, such a living organism always changing and adapting.  Such a difficult job for one person to do especially given the day and age we are living in.  So much to learn and keep up with.  A question I often wonder how it's possible for one person to do this job, yet here I am.
I think a committee should be established that will discuss how the LC will best support the learning community, where it is at, where it is going.  It should include admin, some teaching staff, the teacher librarian and parents if it is to be transparent and benefit the needs of all stakeholders.  It should be looked at through the lens of the teacher librarian taking into account their needs and abilities.  Many obstacles that can be encountered may be able to be rectified using the talents of the people in the building with some creative scheduling ideas.  Sometimes there are things that need attention right away and there are others that could be more of a long term plan.  As there are so many things to take care of in a LC, transparency in these discussions would support the tl in the time that is needed to accomplish certain tasks.
Certainly a tl in the role who is a forward, creative and critical thinker.  Someone who is industrious, energetic and flexible.
Different types of media to experiment with are key for our students to learn new skills that will help them to examine and present information in new ways.
Flexible space and furnishings that invite one in to engage with it's jewels.
